Water Plantain

           Water Plantain or Alisma plantago-aquatica (that's the scientific name)  grows about 2 feet tall. It has 3 petals. Its leaves are basal, and they're 2-6 inches long. Its flower is 1/4 inch wide. The flower is pinkish and white. Water plantain bloom from June to October.  It has a very stiff stem. It grows from Quebec to New York west to Wisconsin. Its habitat is shallow water in freshwater marshes, sluggish streams, and on edges of ponds and lakes.
