Yellow Water Lily

    Yellow water lilies are found in lakes, ponds, streams, marshes,
bogs, and Mississippi River backwater.  They grow in muddy
bottoms of ponds and streams. The water lilies' leaves can be
floating, emerged, or submerged. The flower is yellow and thick.
The leaves are green and long.  The flower is usually 5-10 cm long. The floating leaves are 7-35 cm long and 5-25 wide. It is found from June to September. They are common throughout central and eastern North America.
    The water lily family is Nymphaeceae.
