Its
height: 40 - 100' (12 to30m).
Its
diameter: 2 1/2'(0.8m),or it can be larger.
Its
leaves: The leaves are alternate; in three rows 3-5"(7.5-13m) in
length, 1 3/4 -3"(4.5-7.5cm) in width.
The alder habitat must have moist soils, with loam, sand, gravel, and clay. It must be by streams; often in nearly pure sands.
Its range: South Alaska southeast to central Californa; and local in North Idaho; to 2500.
The red alder is whitish when it is cut, but it is a reddish when it dries.
The red alder is used for many different things like pulpwood, furniture, cabinet work, and tool handles.
