Hummingbirds have bright colors and beaks which are about 6 inches long.
They could be the size of your thumb. They are the smallest of all
the birds and range in weight from less than 2 grams to about 20 grams.
Hummingbirds
are the largest number of bird species found in the tropics. There are
over 300 species, all living in North, Central, and South America.
Hummingbirds
take pollen from flowers and many other plants. They also feed on nectar.
They get nectar from inserting their bill and head into the flower; this
pollen is then transferred from flower to flower.
The hummingbird
also eats insects. They use up most of their energy. They have to eat their
own weight in food every day.
