Gecko

Geckos are small harmless lizards that live mostly in tropical areas. Most of them live in the southwestern United States, Mexico, and South America. Many of them make hissing sounds, but some make clicking sounds that sound like "gecko".
Geckos range in length from 1/2 inch to 10 inches. They have broad , flat heads and thick short tails. They are usually tan or gray but some they live in Africa or New Zealand  and are green with orange or yellow spots.
They can walk on smooth vertical surfaces because of pads on their feet. Some times at night they run on ceilings and walls.
Most geckos' eyes are covered by a membrane which they keep clean by licking with their tongues. Their movable eyelids let them see at night , the time during which they feed on insects.
