Wood Anemone
Family:  Ranunculacea flowering wood anenome

Species: Quinquefolia.

Common Names:  Wood flower, Wind flower, Nimble weed, and Mayflower.

Habitat: March through May.

Plant Size:  It is from four to eight inches tall.

Significant Characteristics: It has petal like sepals which may be tinged with pink or blue.

Folklore:  The word anemone comes from the Greek god of wind Anemos. The legend says that when Anemos flew by he opened the flowers, and that's how it got the nickname Windflower.
