The district Technology Plan has evolved from prior year's lists of equipment purchases to a research-based, data-driven strategic plan on what a district will do with technology to improve student achievement. The current climate of making schools accountable has resulted in many requirements being placed on tech plans through the mandate of NCLB, Wisconsin statute, and e-Rate.

A district must have a certified technology plan in place to qualify for e-Rate funding.

Developing a new plan takes a significant amount of work and, ideally, a team composed of the stakeholders: teachers, administrators, community members, board members.

To assist in meeting the requirements, a template has been developed with all major sections outlined and supplemented with suggested sources of information. Feel free to use and modify this document as needed. [download Word document 114K]

A selection of EXAMPLE BOARD POLICIES, including CIPA, AUP, and Library Media Center policies, can be found on the CESA 5 website.
