The Media Technology Initiative - MTI is part of Educational Technology and supports staff development and classroom curriculum/technology integration. NCSC/MTI workshops and direct special projects assistance aid districts with curriculum and technology integration and to meet student learning needs with creative & artistic opportunities as well as opportunities to develop job related, critical thinking and media literacy skills. The Micro Fair Broadcast is the primary project associated with DTV while Winding River Review is the primary project associated with DTP.
MTI-DTP&endash;the desktop publishing component&endash;includes instruction, training and support in word-processing, desktop publishing software (PageMaker) and forms of digital input (scanning, still frame photography, etc.). New in 96-97- Electronic Internet Publishing (EIP) publishing on the Internet. Winding River Review is the culmination of the DTP process. WRR is a published anthology of student works produced by students.
MTI-DTV describes the desktop video component and includes instruction in elements of televideo production (camera, lighting & editing techniques; field & studio production and news writing).
Enhanced service includes the general service plus priority registration for all series workshops, up to 12 hours of on or off- site planning, training and other assistance as needed plus a Technology Station (DTP or DTV) or components (ETV) within the district for up to three weeks. Options allow basic to advanced levels of training and equipment designed to fit the need of the district. Planning is done via a district team.
